【抛弃背单词,高考英语阅读理解简单得出奇】血浓于水?

阅读理解是各种英语考试的重头戏。出题人的目的是要检查考生的真正阅读能力。要想取得好成绩,读懂是最基本的要求。试图用考试技巧解决问题最终只能是搬起石头砸自己的脚。

在中国,有一个很大的误区——很多人认为单词和语法是学习英语的重点。

事实上,语法的主要作用是帮助用英语写文章服务。也就是说,绝大多数的语法知识是作家需要掌握的东西。以读懂英语名著为目的,您只要大概地了解一些最基本的语法常识就可以了。对于想在阅读理解中取得高分的学生来说,您甚至完全不用学习任何的语法知识。

为什么这样说呢?

您想一想,阅读理解部分是不是已经把所有的东西都展示给您了,对于如何遣词造句,出题者已经认真考虑过了,用不着我们操任何的心。我们只要大概地读懂就可以了。而且,中国的考试还特别贴心地把几种备选的答案列出来,您只要能读懂一小段的内容,就可以轻松找出正确的答案。

请牢记:阅读理解部分答题的最低要求是——读懂!

而读懂的基础是识字,您只要能认识单词(就算不会读)就可以轻松理解一个句子的意思。

  都说血浓于水,亲人总是比外人亲

这里有两个宾语从句,独立出来:

1that blood is thicker than water血浓于水

2that our relatives are more important to us than others亲人总是比外人亲

that的作用是引导从句

我们还熟悉一下单词。

thickerthick+er构成的比较级

thick[Wik]adj.厚的, 粗的, 稠的, 浓的

注:th[W]——它实际上是一个希腊语字母。i[i]ck[k]。请复习tick, ticket, pick up, kick

联想记忆

think[WiNk]v., 思索, 认为

请复习ink, pink, link, drink, rink

 

relative[5relEtiv]n.亲戚, 关系词, 相关物, 亲缘植物adj.有关系的, 相对的, 比较而言的(re+lat+ive)

re-前缀,表“又,再”

-ive形容词后缀

也就是说,relative这个单词您要重点记忆只是lat-这个拉丁语词根。

relate[ri5leit]vt.叙述, , 使联系, 发生关系(re+lat+e

源自已废法语 relaterre+lat+er

注:-er是法语中的动词后缀之一

 

relation[ri5leiFEn]n.关系, 联系, 叙述, 故事, 亲戚(re+lat+ion

请牢记:relate, relative, relation实际上是同一个单词作不同词性使用时的变化。把它当成三个单词去“背”,您的单词量一定有很大的水份。

 

Everyone was so kind to the old lady on her birthday.

在老太太生日这天,每个人都对她非常好。

 

Surely her daughter would make an even bigger effort to please her?

无疑她的女儿将会做出更大的努力使她高兴?

 

  THE PRESENT  礼物

 

 

  It was the old lady's birthday.

  这天是老太太的生日。

 

  She got up early to be ready for the post.

  为了静心等候邮件,她一早就起床了。

 

From the second floor flat she could see the postman when he came down the street, and the little boy from the ground floor brought up her letters on the rare occasions when anything came.

邮差打马路那头过来的时候,她从三楼的公寓套间里一眼就可能看到。她难得有信,偶乐有邮件寄来,总是由住在底楼的小男孩给她送上来。

 

分解一下:

on the rare occasions她)难得有信,

oc-=ob-用在c前的变化

occasional[E5keiVnEl]adj.偶然的, 非经常的, 特殊场合的, 临时的(oc+cas+ion+al

 

when anything came.偶乐有邮件寄来,

  她相信今天肯定会有什么东西寄来。

 

Myra wouldn't forget her mother's birthday,even if she seldom wrote at other times.

迈拉尽管在别的时候绝很少写信,可母亲的生日她是不会忘记的。

 

Of course Myra was busy.

当然,迈拉很忙。

 

Her husband had been made Mayor,

她丈夫当上了市长,

 

and Myra herself had got a medal for her work for the aged.

oper源自拉丁语opera

【拉丁语】opera:opera, operae n. f. work, care; aid; service, effort/trouble; [dare operam => pay attention to];(oper+a)

-a是拉丁语表“阴性、单数”后缀

大家可能已经熟悉的opera源自意大利语,继承自拉丁语。

也就是说,您“背”的所谓英语单词opera实际上是一个拉丁语单词。

-ent形容词后缀

元音字母i在这里只起辅助作用,只告诉您前面的c读软音。在这个单词中ci[F]

 

 

  Two years ago that was,

打那以后,迈拉来看过她母亲三次,

 

but her husband never.

可她丈夫却一次也没来过。

 

  The old lady was eighty today.

请牢记:中古英语、德语、荷兰语有统一的动词后缀-en。现代英语中以-en结尾的动词就是其遗迹。绝对不应该把后缀也作为单词的一部分去“背”。

注:英语中的ee肯定读[i:]

The old lady felt a pang of disappointment.

失望的痛楚攫住了老太太的心。

 

  "No parcel,Johnnie?"

  “没有包裹吗?约翰尼?”

 

  "No,granny."

  “没有,奶奶。”

 

  Maybe the parcel was too large to come by letter post.

  也许是包裹太大了,没法随信件邮班同来。

 

That was it.It would come later by parcel post.

 

对了,准是这个缘帮。待会儿会由包裹邮班送来的。

She must be patient.

她一定要有耐心。

 

  Almost reluctantly she tore the envelope open.

Folded in the card was a piece of paper.

Written on the card was a message under the printed Happy Birthday--

卡有印有“生日快乐”字样,下面写着一句附言——

  The cheque fluttered to the floor like a bird with a broken wing.

Slowly the old lady stooped to pick it up.

她的礼物,她的可爱的礼物!

 

With trembling fingers she tore it into little bits.

她用颤抖的手指把支票撕了个粉碎。

    老兵 : 老朋友!我女儿马上考高中,英语一般,您看有什么办法可以提升一下?初三的英语水平是70分左右。经常礼拜六补课,也是一般!
